Wendy Corkill

From: Alice Springs, Northern Territory Australia

Current job: I work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the intensive care unit at Alice Springs Hospital. It is a combined unit which includes coronary care, high dependency, paediatric and adult intensive care patients.

Role in Rwanda: Registered nurse in intensive care.

What sparked your interest in being involved: It is an opportunity to experience another culture and explore a new country. Volunteering for OOH allows me to pass on my clinical knowledge to others, and makes you realise just how much the team is appreciated and what a difference it makes to the lives of the families that are treated.

Similar trips you’ve been on: I have been on OOH trips to Papua New Guinea and Myanmar, and this will be my second visit to Rwanda.

Passions/interests: My interests are wide and varied. I’m an avid bushwalker, woodworker, and an advocate to promote all things ‘green’.
